Major language groups and dialects
Gnomish is a very strange language that is difficult to track or write down, as it is constantly evolving. The Gnomish Language Council occasionally meets and decides on loan words to add to the ever expanding language. A scholar who learns Gnomish in school may not be able to converse with the gnomes decades later, even if he continually studied his notes. The only way to stay updated is to continually speak Gnomish with Gnomes.
There are two dialects of Gnomish. On paper, they are the same, but they are pronounced differently.
Tinker Gnomish is pronounced with Dwarvish vowels, while Forest Gnomish is pronounced with elvish ones. This creates the effect of an accent.

Historical figures
The gnomes, even though they have their own country of Glimmerbreach, have had a very subtle effect on history. They have quietly manipulated, guided, or charmed the other races to get their way. As such, you will rarely find gnomes in history textbooks.
