The Silent Guardians of Verden

The Silent Guardians of Verden are a knightly order based in Olimandias, now functioning throughout the entire Hegemony. It is made up entirely of aasimar warriors and supporting agents.    In accordance with ancient Olimandias law, any child born with celestial blood must be handed over to the Silent Guardians for the betterment of society. The children are then put through extensive training and education. Better than any education a peasant would receive, so they would claim. Olimandias states that it is a great honor to be part of the Silent Guardians -- a position of power that few will ever find themselves in, and a privilege that not even nobles or royals are entitled to.    While the Eyes of Diel conduct covert operations, the Silent Guardians tend to focus more on direct action, fighting some of the toughest monsters and outsiders that threaten Verden. While they primarily fight non-humanoid threats, they have been known to engage in combat with dissidents and rebels. Sometimes it is more effective for a single battalion of Silent Guardians to put down a revolution rather than let common soldiers address it and cause it to spiral out of control.       Perseus Ransom -- now a member of the Lost Woods domain -- states that he was an experiment. The Silent Guardians were attempting to make artificial aasimar to fill their ranks. He was injected with an alchemical mixture that contained celestial blood when he was ten years old. Soon after, feathered wings grew from his back and his body underwent various physical changes.        Related individuals:

  • Selena and Piers Garetson were meant to be recruited into this order.

The Silent Guardians are the elite protectors of Verden, blessed with celestial blood that sets them apart from the common rabble. They have a birthright that many others do not -- as the descendants of Diel's celestial army, they are sworn to defend his great united civilization and unleash their wrath against anything that would threaten it.
