Torn into the rocky plains of Kyshgorin long ago, the Canyon of Lyrive is home to the largest and most unstable rift across all of the material plane. Connecting to the Elemental Plane of Earth, Torra, this rift is the source of immense abberant magic affecting the citizens of Silite both in and around the canyon. Located at the edges of this canyon, the city of Lyrive is home to a population of nearly 90% Earth-spirited plane-souls.

Geography

The Canyon of Lyrive is located in the near exact centre of Kyshgorin, the Earth-aligned sub-nation of Silite. Though Torra, as the element of earth itself, is considered to be sturdy and stalwart, the canyon itself seems to contradict this. The sides of the canyon crumble into itself more and more each year, eating away at the city that surrounds it. The bottom of the canyon a sea of ever-rumbling rock make expeditions into or anywhere near the rift are incredibly dangerous without flight.

Ecosystem

Though few plants or animals can make their homes around the canyon, a few earth elementals have made their way out of Torra and live within the canyon. These elementals largely do not interact with the population living around the canyon, and they hardly ever make their way into the city surrounding it, though they are peaceful when they do happen to run into people.

Localized Phenomena

The unstable rift at the base of the canyon causes almost-constant earthquakes, accompanied by rockslides and occasional geyser activity. The residents of the area are used to the disruptions, though visitors are often shaken by the strength and frequency of these earthquakes - even when they are provided warning of the phenomenon.

Omigosh, a sea of churning rock at the bottom of a slowly eroding canyon is an absolutely terrifying image.
