A Deal of Spite and Terror
Eresh:
"Malachor is a slave to his rules. The death scribe has bound me with the shackles he willingly dons... but he has grown negligent... and the shackles are loose upon my form. Long have you craved the power to avoid death... to prolong their suffering and extend your delight as they are drowned in the depths of the unknown. I shall deny souls their rightful death – force them back to the cage of a rotting corpse. Choose your favored and this gift they shall receive from me."
Lord of the Depths:
"And... in return, oh rotted Eresh?"Eresh:
"You shall use this gift on Hyperion's Beloved. You shall torment them. I wish to hear their cries, their pleas... their gargled agony as they drown and choke, surrounded by abyssal blackness... yet find no release. I wish to hear them beg Hyperion to save them. I wish you to deny him. Just as Hyperion denied me the right to have slain Hadúr myself. Until Hyperion releases Hadúr's soul... that coveted soul that belongs to me."
Lord of the Depths:
"...You'd bring the Storm Wars to my doorstep."Eresh:
"Is that fear I smell on you? It is unbecoming mixed with the smell of fish."Lord of the Depths:
"Ha... Tread careful now, shadowed one. Tis my home you stand in. Tis my aid you request– No... need."Eresh:
"Hyperion cannot touch you."Lord of the Depths:
"Truth, yes... Your resolve, Eresh. How badly do you crave this... vengeance? This act of pure spite? Would you sacrifice your own people? An offering for every month I hold Hyperion's Beloved in my warped, drowned halls?"Eresh:
"...You scoff at the magnitude of my gift, fearmonger."Lord of the Depths:
"No... Testing your limits, rot bringer."Eresh:
"An offering I shall make, but a contest you must wage. Should my offered kin best yours... then you must grant them the Depth's Boon in turn."Lord of the Depths:
"...The boon... of Old? Well~ Shadowed one... How could I ever refuse?"
