The Unknown Abyssal Lord
First of the Abyss, Fearmonger
From his seat of power in the depths, the Abyssal Lord rules his domain of darkness and fear. What do mortals fear the most? Certainly they fear death, but once death is achieved... that is the end of fear. But there is something else that causes mortals to experience euphoric levels of fear and panic: the unknown. And so the Abyssal Lord masks his true identity and his appearance behind darkness. Feed a mortal just a hint – a collection of sounds, a glimpse of something moving in the darkness – and their imagination will conjure up horrors and fears that can then be relished in. Given his obsession with cultivating a perpetual state of divinely-inspired fear in mortals, the Abyssal lord was feared in turn. Every title was earned. First of the Abyss. Lord of the Depths. Tyrant of Darkness. Master of the Unknown. Purveyor of Fear.
Yet, to those beyond the sea, the Abyssal Lord was a distant threat. For he was as bound to the depths as the prisoners he kept shackled to the sea floor.

Artifacts
The Depth's Boon – A medallion of an unknown, cold material hangs from a slimy chord. Flesh, now hardened, has been pulled across one surface of the medallion and depicts a face contorted and screaming in terror. Holding the medallion causes dread to twist in one's gut and fear to dig into one's heart.
Ring of Non-Euclidean Space – A ring made of fossilized tentacle with a black gemstone set in the center... or maybe it's slightly off center?
Divine Symbols & Sigils
The aquamarine gemstone, a glowing eye in a circle of darkness (often a smooth, black stone)
Tenets of Faith
The Fear of the Unknown – Followers of the Tyrant of the Depths embrace the undiscovered, the incomprehensible, and the unknown. Through this abandonment of control, they gain freedom, fueled by fear they have now mastered. Once one has surrendered to the unknown, it becomes a power to be wielded. Followers of the Tyrant keep their true names secret, only revealing them when absolutely necessary. For knowing one's name has power... but followers of the Tyrant gain power when their identity is unknown. Those that fail to submit to the Tyrant and the unknown... shall know fear without end.
