Artemilla

The Immortal Ascetic

The pleasure, delights, and fulfillment that most mortals seek is the low-hanging, hollow fruit of satisfaction. While it may grant reprieve temporarily, it will only prove to be decreasingly satisfying with every indulgence. A slippery slope that leads only to addiction and numbness. Once the leader of the Jungle Ascetics and bearer of the title of "Euseban", Artemilla believes that true, everlasting, and fulfilling pleasure must be found within. True delights can only be found by embracing self-discipline, reflection, and abstinence. The fleeting pleasures that Therarask purports are nothing more than illusions of the love and devotion they claim to hold as their divine domain. Artemilla is the perfect embodiment of the tenets they preach. They are quiet, mellow, reflective, and stern, having spent over a century now honing their mind and warding themselves from temptation and distractions of Therarask. They cannot be led astray by the Jungle nor does the Golden Mist hold sway over their being. For their mind remains strong and pure. There is no place for trickery, illusion, or temptations to reside.

A "Mockery" of a Cycle

Artemilla was not originally immortal. They were not the first to hold the title of Euseban. As a mockery of the Beloved Cycle, the lifespan of Therarask's Antagonist was tied to their Beloved. Thus, an elven Euseban may have only lived a human lifespan or a human Euseban may have lived an elven lifespan. However, unlike the Beloved Cycle, the title of Euseban is willingly passed from one to the next, transferring the title when the next Beloved is born. With the ending of Therarask's Beloved Cycle, Artemilla has become immortal, forever separating the title of Euseban from Therarask's Antagonist and becoming the Immortal Ascetic.

Peace and Pleasure Within – One cannot find true pleasure, peace, and happiness in life without looking inward. One must take the time to inspect the inner workings of one's mind, psyche, perceptions, and emotions. With discipline comes focus. With focus comes clarity. With clarity comes revelation. With revelation comes understanding, peace, and happiness.
