Kagero
The Whispered Doubt, the Traveler's Torment
A weary traveler approaches a fork in the road. The journey has been long and tiring; their bones have never felt heavier. They blink. Was there always someone waiting where the road splits? The newcomer, from beneath their robes, offers a smile and a welcoming wave. Besides the clothes covering them, the robed figure carries no supplies or anything to indicate where they have come from or where they are going. Oh, weary traveler, the roads are obstructed ahead, I implore you to turn back... or, if you simply must go on, I'm sure you can forge a new path. And so the traveler diverts from the path. Their bones become heavier with every step. Their muscles ache. Their mind is... weak. Voices echo all about, yet the traveler is alone. So very alone... with only whispered doubts in their mind. They grow louder and louder as the robed figure stalks the traveler from the shadows. A malicious force wearing a maniacal grin, Kagero is the traveler's torment. It waits until the road has worn them down and then strikes, bringing forth all manner of doubt, self-loathing, and intrusive thoughts from the depths of the mind. Should it desire to truly torment, it will take the form of a loved one and spin the cruelest of words from their lips. Above all, however, Kagero takes the most delight in tormenting the Weaver of Gold, donning the skin of the new spirit's long deceased father. What cruel fun!

Beneath the Skin – Do you know what the richest type of torment is? Self-inflicted. There is delicious flavors to be drawn from the torment created from a mortal's own mind. To coax such flavors out, one must master the ability to get beneath the skin. What do they fear? How are they insecure? Who do they love and who do they hate? What will cause the most excrutiating pain: to hear the words of fear and doubt echo ceaselessly from within their own mind... or to hear them pouring from a loved one's lips? Drive the seeds of doubt beneath the skin, and watch as it blossoms and blooms.
