Session 2: The Birth of the LUKI Four

11th of Snowmelt

General Summary

Our newly-formed group of adventurers sleep in on the morning after their late-night scrap at the black mural. They wake slowly at around 10 o’clock on a rainy morning at the Hall of Heroes, the Gildenwharf adventuring guild. After a delightful breakfast of smoothies served by Greg and Gale Deepoak, they are informed that Grand Overseer Belkoris Wilthorn wishes to see them after sundown. With quite some time to kill before the meeting, the party decides to help the dwarven blacksmith Wilburs with his Mephit problem. They dispose of the elemental creatures in Wilburs’s rune forge and receive a guiding rune as a reward. Upon returning to the Hall of Heroes, they formally register as an adventuring party with the guild. They combine the first letters of their respective names to spell “LUKI” - an approximation of the word “lucky”, which they hope will set them off on the right foot in their upcoming adventures. The name resonates with them, and thus the party of the LUKI Four is born.   The LUKI Four decide that they deserve a break following a morning of cleaning up after elemental nuisances. They head over to the Coral Reef Resort in the Inward Ocean district, where they meet the owner, Zhaz. They spend a relaxing afternoon at the bathhouse, enjoying all kinds of comforts - from massages to small snacks. Curious about its effects and never one to decline life’s delights, Killian Sunbridge buys some Relaxing Reef Revitaliser - a blue roll filled with a somewhat mysterious but rather relaxing substance. After a good two hours, our heroes decide to hit the shops at the Belltower Plaza. On their way there, they learn that Rea, the second in command of the Griffon Knights, has arrived in the city. At the plaza, the party buys wood carvings from Miller - Indra chooses an Ibex and Killian opts for a sheep with a small four-leaf clover held in its mouth like a tango rose, naming it LUKI and pronouncing it the party mascot. They also purchase some potions from Mandy, Indra asks an Alltrader about Vozamier, and Killian finds himself engaged in a dice game with terrible luck.   As the evening draws near, the LUKI Four make their way to the town hall to meet with Grand Overseer Wilthorn, who informs them that he has been looking into the strange symbol they repeatedly ran into the previous day, and that he has two leads for them. The first would take them to Brothers’ Crossing, where one Lady Valxi of the Tower Scholars owes Grand Overseer Wilthorn a favour. He has a hunch that the Scholars have not been entirely forthcoming with their information, and he would like the LUKI Four to gain some insight on the matter. The second lead concerns the town of The Floats on the other side of the Sunrise Lake. One of the Order’s scouts, Lohik Bakkaroto, was stationed there, and his reports contain mentions of strange symbols around the city. However, there has been no word from him in several days, which is unusual and, considering the circumstances, suspicious. The LUKI Four could venture out to The Floats to investigate the symbols he wrote about, as well as hopefully locating Lohik himself. The party chooses the latter option, as a missing person’s case seems to be the more urgent of the two. The ship that will take them to The Floats leaves at dawn the next day. Adventure awaits!   Next session: Session 3: Bullywugs, Crows and Demons
