Council of Grace and Retribution

Written by Sterrestel

Born of both bloodshed and hope, the women have risen to take their rightful places as knights of the kingdom of Arthyria.

As the Knights of the Round Table grew corrupted and turned more toward the darkness of Excalibur, they fell, one by one at the hands of each other. Each Knight that picked up the blade killed the last, immediately taken by the darkness until all but Artwyn and Myhren had perished.

A great victory turned to tremendous loss as the kingdom mourned the loss of their protectors; their family, their loved ones. As if sensing the danger, enemies of the kingdom avoided them altogether, leaving them to their months of grief and solitude.

With their solitude came the downfall of the kingdom as trade declined to a whimpering trickle. The kingdom held its breath, for a time, as if waiting for help that would never come. Soon, the people took matters into their own hands.

After nearly half a year of silence, Myhren found a group of twenty-eight women outside their door, each determined to bring the Caervyon, and Arthyria, back to what it had once been. With Myhren's guidance, Artwyn agreed to train them as new knights, and the council was born.

Artwyn and Myhren worked hard to train the women as well as they could, however, it soon became obvious that they needed more than just the two of them. Artwyn chose to send Myhren and nine of the council to the farthest reaches of the continent in search of teachers, masters, and mentors in skills ranging from martial arts to weaponsmithing.

Myhren continued to travel with a group of nine even after Artwyn had become satisfied with their training; taking up challenges and protecting the kingdom from beasts and man alike while the others stayed behind to defend Caervyon. It was not long before news of Arthyria's new council spread to the other kingdoms, and not long before they began to seek trade and support from them once again.

The kingdom flourished with the fame and fortune of its new council, and the corrupted blade, Excalibur, stayed hidden with Myhren, known by the people only as the sword in the stone.
