Excalibur

A powerful weapon of glass, unbreakable and unmatched in strength.

Written by Sterrestel

True History

The legendary sword in the stone, freed and wielded by King Artwyn. For a time, at least. Unlike the stories of Earth, King Artwyn was unable to wield the sword for long: with a mind of its own, the blade nearly drove him to insanity and corruption. So, instead of wielding it himself, he entrusted it to Myhren, his lover and protector.

A being of magic themself, Myhren was fully capable enough to wield the blade without consequence, transforming it into a blade of glass at their touch. Although it is easy to mistakenly think it is extremely fragile, the Dragonfire forged Excalibur became sharper, stronger, and more powerful thanks to the grasp of the most powerful dark sorcerer to walk the planet.

Raw Materials & Components

The true materials of the magical weapon are unknown, however with Myhren's touch, the sword seems to become a glass item. From the grip through the blade, this glass seems unbreakable. It is quite possibly the sharpest blade in the universe.

Abilities

Even without its magical properties, Excalibur is the strongest blade ever forged in Alatheia. It can cleave through most anything without a scratch to its surface. Once reforged in Kyarrah's fire, it can kill anything; immortal or mortal, magical or non-magical, living or dead.

Without Myhren's touch, the sword transforms back into an ordinary-looking steel blade, rather than it's magical glass form. Its true potential was only revealed once Artwyn had bestowed it to Myhren.

Manufacturing process

Originally forged out of steel, the sword was then reforged in the Great Dragon's breath. The magic of her fire transformed the sword into its glass counterpart, which can only be activated by its rightful owner, Myhren.
