The Lonely Chorus

The colonization of Planet 237-121 appeared to be going as planned, humans moving from exhausted, poisoned worlds to their new, pristine home. Then a horrific fungal plague broke out, annihilating the first colony, infesting soil and flesh alike.   Now trapped on a quarantined planet, the survivors struggle to keep the disease at bay. Its most dramatic form, a fungal forest from which nothing escapes uninfected, now spreads ever closer to the remaining human settlement.   Zi, a teenage runaway, now works with the few others willing to enter the dangerous forest to collect samples for researchers, in a desperate bid to find a cure. Zi's hope for their future dwindles as they witness time and again the horror of the plague, and many failed attempts to defeat it.   Then a survivor emerged from the forest.
