Deskari, Usher of the Apocalypse, Demon Lord of Infestation and Locusts
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Domains: Blood, Death, Nature, War
Symbol: A pair of crossed locust wings dripping with blood.
Garb: Chitinous armor
Favored Weapons: Scythe
Form of Worship and Holidays: Deskari knows no holidays, and calls his followers to worship him by participating in the eradication of the Crusader Kingdom of Mendev or otherwise devouring the world around them, like an all-consuming swarm. Deskari's unholy text is One Thousand Voices in My Flesh, the first-person account of a human priest who was infested with Deskari's eggs and heard his many voices until he committed suicide.
Typical Worshippers: Demons and denizens of the Worldwound, Sarkorian cultists, fallen crusaders, doomsayers, and worms-that-walk
Deskari appears as a horrible beast, human from the waist up, and locust-like below. Semi-solid wings composed of clouds of locusts protrude from his human back, and he carries the terrible scythe Riftcarver - crafted from the spine of his mother - in his fleshy hands. Deskari is the son of Pazuzu and an unknown giant insect demon. He was born fully formed when Pazuzu breathed his first breath on the Material Plane. In his early years, Deskari lived in Sarkoris, sheltered by his father, until he developed his own cult on the Material Plane and seized his own Abyssal realm, becoming a demon lord. Deskari had been interested in the barbarian nation of Sarkoris since he discovered the strange thinness of the planar barrier between it and his own realm, the Rasping Rifts. His cult grew and built many secret temples in the the eastern highlands, and few Sarkorians realised that they were worshipping anything different from the numerous other religions in the country. At least two hundred years before the Dark Sister Eclipse, the witch Areelu Vorlesh, having discovered the same thinness between Sarkoris and Deskari's realm, pledged her loyalty to him. Deskari and Areelu would then open the The Worldwound laying waste to central Sarkoris and inspiring the Mendevian crusades, which would last over a century. As the Lord of Locusts, Deskari knows only one impulse - to consume. He commands his followers as locusts in a great swarm, and all those who do not follow the swarm become its food. Deskari craves nothing but the complete and total annihilation of all sentient life in the pursuit of satisfying the swarm's endless hunger, and he aims to expand the Worldwound throughout all of Lloegyr to do so. Deskari has been sighted at least twice upon the Material Plane. During this second sighting, he was slain by the crusader Sir Mendev and was forced back to his Abyssal realm to regenerate. The Lord of Locusts has yet to reappear after this great insult, though only the unwise attribute this disappearance to cowardice; the smartest of the crusaders know that Deskari merely gathers his power so that he will not be laid low the next time he strikes at Mendev.
