Kišan

Along the chaotic mess of ridges, valleys and peaks that make up Drevok's Spine, one of the many cliffs along the range has a large rift carved into it, cloaking it in shade but protecting it from the elements. The rocky outcropping is so significant that it has been named Krišan, and shelters a small village of the same name.

Geography

The cliff itself makes up one side of a valley, the side of a mountain. However, due to sudden erosion or simple the passage of time, the cliff slopes outwards, casting shade on the valley below. Mid-way up the cliff is a horizontal rift, a chasm that lies open like a mouth. It is one of the most hard-to-reach settlements in Isturoth. Because of this difficulty, it is no good as a keep or fortress, as the challenge to bring resources and materials up there would be too great.   Instead, a group of Isturians have made a home in the divide, comfortably settled in their precarious nest, sheltered from the elements and likely any chance of attack.

Ecosystem

Due to lack of water, sunlight and dirt, crops are not able to grow in this rocky place. An assortment of herbs, flowers and weeds grow wild across the face of the cliff, but in the divide, the dwellers within are limited to cave-based vegetation, which largely consists of moss and fungi. Those who live here are well-versed in the route to and from the ground and often make journeys out for food and water.

Climate

Regardless of the temperate outside, the climate within the divide is cool and damp year-round, and completely protected from rain and snow.
