The Slumbering God

In the Isturian pantheon, the God of Time Drevok is revered as the custodian of time, death, patience, and humility. They dwell just beneath the ground and allow those who pass on to shed their flesh and become part of the earth.   A key myth associated with Drevok relates to their current state of being. In order to ensure that time continues to flow and natural processes take their course, Drevok remains in a state of deep sleep. From here, they can oversee the life and death of all those above, as well as the correct flow of time.   The animosity between Drevok and God of Primordial Rage Jokhosh is well-known. While Drevok slumbers and watches over those above, Jokhosh claws and scrapes and bites and digs in their caverns and tunnels, from far below the sleeping deity.   It is said that if Drevok would ever wake, time itself would end and there would be no custodian over death, resulting in an event known as Drevok's AwakeningJokhosh (Lullaby of the Deep) have become commonplace, as have songs and poems designed to aid in the restful sleep of Drevok. Jokhosh is seen as a major antagonist in this regard, not out of an evil desire to end the world, but merely because they cannot contain their raging behaviour. Some see it only as a matter of time before the violent nature of Jokhosh wakes the slumbering god and Drevok ends the world as we know.
