Dógar the Drunk

Dógar Kli

At a nearby table, you can see a man with his head down on the wood surface, completely dead to the world. His arm half draped across the table has a deep tan, and you can see some words tattooed onto his skin. His clothes are soiled from a long night of drinking, and the stench coming off of him is nearly unbearable.   After serving you and pointing him out, Salam grabs a bucket of water from the back and goes over to him, dumping the contents over his head. He suddenly jolts up and socks Salam right in the jaw, and then crumples back into his chair, shaking his head from side to side.   "I told ya to never wake me up!" the man slurs, and you can see him rapidly blinking his bloodshot eyes.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Dógar is of a heavy build, with tattooed muscles and tanned skin. His wild hair and patchy beard give him a stern face.

Body Features

He is heavy set, with a muscular frame hardened by farming and bar fights. His skin is tanned from his time in the fields.

Facial Features

He has a pretty stern face, often with little tufts of hair growing out where he neglects to shave.

Identifying Characteristics

He has a small tattoo of the words "Never Dying" (one of the Army's mottos) on his right arm.

Physical quirks

When hungover, he usually just rests his head in his hands and blinks rapidly to try and clear his head.

Apparel & Accessories

He commonly wears his farmer's clothing of an ill-fitting brown tunic and long grey trousers.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Dógar was always a problem child, which got him thrown out of the house once he turned eighteen. During his brief stint in the military, he caused a lot of problems in his unit, one of which ended with his friend dead. It was during this time that he first began drinking heavily, and he never really stopped once he had finished his service and returned home.   Gúrda Thérun of the Drakeslayers stole money from him, and when he attempted to attack them, he was intimidated and talked down by the other members of their band.

Employment

He's always worked as a farmer, outside the required year of military service that he did in his eighteenth year.

Intellectual Characteristics

Dógar doesn't have much of a mind left, the alcohol having muddled it beyond repair. He never forgets a face, though, and he will always remember if someone does anything to him.

Morality & Philosophy

He's mostly out for himself, and he isn't interested in philosophy or morality in general. This means that he often gets in fights and brawls in the tavern, attempting to make others hurt as much as he does.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Dógar just goes from one day to the next, not really wishing for much more than a few good drinks at the end.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

  • He is pretty useful in a fight if he's on your side and a right menace if he's not.
  • He gets confused easily, as he hardly thinks through his actions.
  • Likes & Dislikes

  • As would be expected, he is fond of good drink, especially the stronger stuff.
  • He has a vehement hate for those who wrong him, and he will fight them if he's had enough to drink.
  • Virtues & Personality perks

  • If you can get his respect, he can be a stalwart and consistent ally.
  • Vices & Personality flaws

  • Naturally, his addiction to drink and violence.
  • Hygiene

He constantly smells of drink and filth, as he never seems to wash. He barely makes the effort to shave, and even then doesn't do a great job.

    Social

    Contacts & Relations

  • Most people in town know him, although not favourably.
  • He and Salam know one another well, although this is mostly due to Dógar's patronage of Alté's Old Cane Inn.
  • Family Ties

His family are farmers at the other side of town, and they want nothing to do with him.

    Religious Views

Dógar rarely goes to Temple services, and even if he did, he would probably be drunk and disturb the ceremony, as he thinks religion's a "bundle of horse dung".

    Social Aptitude

Dógar loves talking about himself and other people, although it's mostly the drink talking. All the same, he has a rare confidence. His focus on himself is a hallmark of egotistical behaviour and his manners are abysmal.

    Hobbies & Pets

  • One of his favourite pastimes is telling tall tales to travellers; they're never true, of course, but they are entertaining.
  • Getting into fights are another one of his hobbies, although they rarely end well.
  • Speech

He has a low, gravelly voice, generally a little slurred from the drinking.

    Wealth & Financial state

Dógar is a poor farmer, and he spends most of what money he makes on drink and gambling bets, so he rarely has money on him. When he does, though, he keeps it in a pouch at his side, although this pouch was recently stolen. His house is a small hut at the edge of town, and it has little aside from a creaky table and a bundle of hay masquerading as a bed.
