Withermaw Mine

Heading to the north of Valtir, you quickly come across a small and bustling camp of miners. These miners are right in front of a dusty wooden mine entrance. The two large oaken doors at this entrance have to be at least several decades old. Carts of dark iron ore are being hauled out of the currently-open doors of the mines, and the occasional block of quartz as well.

Purpose / Function

This mine was built to tap into the rich veins of iron ore in the White Guard Mountains. Some areas of the mine have tapped into gigantic veins of quartz, so blocks of that have been mined out and brought to the surface as well.

Alterations

Over the years, the mine has become so large and labyrinthine that maps have had to be handed out to miners heading toward specific chambers.

History

Withermaw Mine is the oldest continuously operating mine in the Schinter region, perhaps the oldest in the Gratic Empire. The age of the mine is not certain, but it was definitely in full use long before the troops of the Empire arrived in the region in 88 I.
