Katigern was the son of Vortigern's first wife. When his father turned on his people in favor of the Saxons, Katigern and his brother Vortimer rebelled in 456. Katigern led an invasion of Kent, where his forces battled the army of Cynings Hengest and Horsa. During the battle, Horsa and Katigern killed each other.
