Vortimer was the son of Vortigern's first wife. When his father turned on his people in favor of the Saxons, Vortimer and his brother Katigern rebelled in 456. Vortimer did well against the Saxons, but died in 462. Rumor said that his step-mother Rowena poisoned him.
