A young star with a chaotic accretion disk around it, Aranak is only one jump away from Sol and Scyldarispace, through theur joint presence at Zalax Stationand only two jumps away from the Chinorr Combine's border worlds at Redundus. This proximity and the many hiding spots in the system-wide accretion disk has made the system attractive to pirates and smugglers. A large pirate base was destroyed by Chinorr contractors in 2292 and a small remaining outpost was raided by forces of the Lower Belt Federation in 2297. Current pirate activity is unknown though the system is not being regularly patrolled.
