Lurah Adhi (ˈlu.raʔ ˈa.d̪i)

The Lurah Adhi is the commander of the Tirta Baya, an organization dedicated to the removal and destruction of gods they deem evil. The title translates to "Exalted Leader" in Bahasa. As the Tirta Baya has only formed in the last few years, the duties and powers of the Lurah Adhi are still in the process of being defined, and will be shaped in large part by two people - Wira Suryanata and Bagus Jayanagara.

Appointment

The first and current Lurah Adhi, Wira Suryanata, was appointed to the role by Bagus Jayanagara when he founded the Tirta Baya. At this time, no formal plan is in place for appointing his successor, but it is generally assumed that the current Lurah Adhi will have the power to choose whoever is to follow them. It is likely that a more formal process will be adopted if the organization survives long enough to need one.

Duties

The Lurah Adhi is responsible for directing the Tirta Baya in their war against the gods they have identified as evil. They have the sole discretion over which deities meet the definition of evil, but once this has been determined, they are supposed to do whatever is required to remove these harmful gods from power and influence over mortals beings.

History

The Lurah Adhi is an invention of the philosopher and scholar, Bagus Jayanagara. As a member of the Phaṇin ethnic group, Bagus had spent their life as a part of the Persatuan Phaṇin's war against the goddess Rangdayan and her creatures. Their studies were focused upon the nature of divinity, with a goal of finding a way to finally free the Phaṇin from her depredations. Bagus conceived of the Tirta Baya as a means to carry their theories into battle against all evil gods, and believed that only an absolute commander would be able to direct such a mission. He chose Wira Suryanata as the first Lurah Adhi, as he believed the general would be able to do whatever was necessary to achieve the organization's goals.

That is quite a lot of power. I hope it doesn't used for evil purposes itself.

Well…that will depend on one’s perspective. One person’s holy quest is another’s wicked inquisition.
