Vigleteús (viˈɣletɛus)

Vigleteús is the highest peak on the island of Ypsilós, and dominates the island's northern region. It is named for the witch-goddess Vigle, who resides in the mountain's heart. The mountain has large exposed marble deposits which are known locally as Vigle's bones. Marble taken from Vigle's bones is said to have magical properties, and is highly prized, especially in the Malika of Saba.

Prior to the arrival of the Imikýklio on Ypsilós, Vigle was a relatively obscure member of the Daemones, worshipped only by a few who bore the gift of magic. However, ever since the mathematical cult established itself near the southern mountain of Konos, Vigle has become a symbol for those who oppose the Imikýklio to rally behind. She has come to represent the messy complexity of the world, and the importance of engaging with all aspects of it, the sublime and the disastrous and everything in between. Her followers have swelled and acquired a reputation for hard-headed practicality and efficiency, and despise the cult's attempts to simplify reality to the point where it dissolves entirely. While few of her current followers have the gift of true magic, they are masters of Folk Magic, especially the ways to turn a person's own beliefs into a magical force for good or ill. The followers of Vigle have formed several covens and established themselves in the communities in the northern mountains, rapidly becoming an indispensable component of each settlement.

Ecosystem

The lower slopes of Vigleteús have many meadows covered in wildflowers, and the Kaphtori honeybee is extremely common here. The honey made by the bees of Vigleteús is less sweet than that of other bees, but is said to have curative properties, especially for cases of mental illness. The keeper-priests of Solennefrieden Lighthouse maintain a supply of Vigle's honey on hand to help alleviate the symptoms of their most troubled patients.
