After a long rest, the party decided to split up for the day. Gorgoroth, Renestrae and Berov stayed in their room while Red, S'thom and Lat'num went shopping.
Shopping
The shoppers easily found the
Happy Hobgoblin, a brightly colored toy shop in the middle of the
Bulwark Road canyon floor. Inside they met the lizardman shopkeeper and Hem'ru, a githyanki "toy maker". The team found out that the toys were not safe for children. Everything in the store was a weapon disguised as a toy.
S'thom paid 50gp for a cute little shuffling mechanical (explosive) owlbear.
In the Inn
Renestrae and Berov studied the "indescribable" object that she picked up in
Xak-Tsaroth. When Berov studied it and cast Identify, he took phsychic damage. Neither were able to discuss the item directly (being some magicaly property of the device), but Renestrae determined that it was a kind of plant from the netherworld whose seeds would create a blast of necrotic damage when thrown.
Gorgoroth practiced the meditation techniques he learned from
Marshal Gir'a'akis | Gith Exile. He reflected on the differences between his younger self, when the flames breath came more naturally and the psychic powers were innate, without practice. Back then he fought for his family and friends. He had aimed to stop the evil that rose around him. Between then and now the evil had washed over everything like a deluge.
As he meditated, he practiced reaching out with his psyonic energy and felt three sources of power. One was very close by and weak. Two were far away but very powerful. He grasped at one of the powerful sources and it reacted, pulling around his psyche like a net around a fish. He fought it and broke free.
Renestrae and Berov heard a boom outside. From the balcony they saw two streaks of vapor wisping into the sky, one to the east near the Square district and one to the west in the Boneyard.
Gorgoroth reached for the second strong source of psychic energy and it pulled away. It seemed shy and deep, like a small thing hiding in the back of a cave. He coaxed at it, meaning no harm. It pulled back and disappeared but before doing so left a message in his mind. "If you want to meet, come to the rift."
In the Boneyard
Lat'num, Red and S'thom saw the streaks in the sky as well. Two meteors had fallen into Nanoen. They walked to the
Boneyard to investigate.
Folks ran out of the
Bone Orchard resort. Only a few came towards the city center. Most fled into the desert. S'thom ran off to get help while the guys moved closer.
After the group moved closer to get a better look, they saw a man with no lips biting another patron. Red figured he knew the man with no lips. They climbed the canyon wall and inspected the hole in Delli's roof. Climbing out of the hole was a large aberration with many mouths and tentacle-like appendages.
S'thom brought the rest of the team just in time. Battle commensed.
After they defeated the monstrosity, they peeked in the Bone Orchard. There was no impact crater, but the walls and floors were covered in some invisible, intangible residue, like psychic ash.
