Session 54 - Hatchery

General Summary

The party continued their fight against Ulgrod, an undead tiefling and sire to the first hatch of draconians. The spirit of his dragonborn wife Lishla Voltaire had already been defeated, but a handful of undead draconians continued to defend their father. A thunderous rushing sound came from the hallway that led to the surface. A wave of water surged into the ritual chamber and covered the combatants toes. It surged again and again, the tide reaching further into the room each time. When the third wave reached the room, its waters touched Dasani, the water elemental that Lat’num had previously summoned.   Lat’num felt a jerk against his magical hold on the liquid creature. His power over it was broken. The elemental became a servant of Argosaquas and it thrashed in frustration, unable to discern friend from foe. The Party sought refuge in the nearest hallway which was partially hidden by the gold dragon statue.   At the end of the hall in a small chamber, Gorgoroth found a single large golden egg. The stone floor in front of the egg was decorated by 16 glyphs. S’thom recalled seeing similar images on the plinth beneath the gold statue. She called them out to Red, who transformed into a bear and sprang to each glyphstone in order. When they completed the ritual a magic field dissipated from the egg. It lost much of its luster. When Red crushed the egg with his paws, a ghostly wail echoed throughout the crypt. Ifrit guessed that the spirit of Lishla and Ulgrod endured. Their forms would regenerate as long as the eggs remained protected.   The Party carefully avoided the water elemental as they investigated each clutch. The silver eggs were protected by a noxious mist that needed a herbal potion to be brewed. The bronze clutch sparked with electricity and required being grounded before they could be destroyed. The copper clutch was protected by powerful illusions. Lat’num learned that the huge nest of draconians that had frightened him from this room were mearly images in his mind. Finally, the brass clutch was protected by a sleeping spell, which Gorgoroth had to overcome.   When all five clutches of dragon eggs were destroyed, the ghost of Lishla reemerged in the main chamber and howled in grief. Argosaquas, speaking through the elemental Dasani, chastised Lishla for corrupting the unborn dragons then ripped her soul away from the area.   The party searched the area and found a magical spear and chain mail. They put the items in S’thom’s bag of holding then climbed to the surface. The wizards were wondering why Argosaquas suddenly left. The Party talked to Professor Onai and offered to tell him in private. The mage school teacher opened a portal and led them into his office.
