Dimenol

A city divided will fall in a day; two cities brought together will last a thousand years. Dimenol is somehow both of these things. What is now known as Dimenol was formerly two entirely different cities, Nolthis and Kommentrom. These two were once on good standing with each other and were great allies and trading partners. There were only a couple complications.   The first, Kommentrom belonged to the Sakyrian Empire, which caused Nolthis, an independent city, to be wary of their relations as the empire had a tendency to casually absorb parts of their allies' assets. The second, the two resided in entirely different Verses. Kommentrom, as previously mentioned, belonged to the Sakyrian Empire, which had most of its landmass in the CryoVerse. Nolthis, however, resided in the Hub, and the two could only communicate via the nexus which both cities had settled over. Eventually, the events preceding the Multiversal War occurred, giving the Sakyrian Empire ample chance to absorb Nolthis into its influence, as well as any and all of the surrounding area. During this time and the Multiversal War itself, the empire managed to hold onto Nolthis, slowly assimilating it and Kommentrom into each others' cultures. After the war ended and the empire was given ownership of Nolthis, they then decreed that the two cities would merge together entirely, becoming the Multiverse's first and only city which existed in two Verses at once. This city is what we now call Dimenol, and the two previous cities are now called the Kommen Ward and Nol Ward.   However, not all of Dimenol's inhabitants were okay with the merging of the two. In fact, even the cities' joint mayors often do not get along. A great deal of Dimenol's citizens, that is the most vocal among them, still protest against their merging and insist on splitting the two wards. This has escalated to such a degree that fighting occasionally breaks out among citizens from separate wards. There have been measures taken against this in order to keep the streets safe, but that never stops anything entirely. Recently, though, tensions between the two wards seem to have cooled down a smidgen. What exactly caused this is anyone's guess, but at least there are fewer street fights and pub brawls for the moment.
