Party Arrives In Valence, Meets Maxence

The party arrives in Valence and delivers the package to Maxence. During their delivery, Maxence hires them as security for a private party the following night.

The party arrives in Valence and finds Penny Pekkala in the market. She tells them that Maxence lives on the third level. The party delivers the package to Maxence, who reveals that the package is a specialty blade to protect himself against the undead that have been occasionally seen roaming the city.   During their conversation Maxence hires them as security for his annual private party which takes place the following night. He explains that he wants extra security due to the uneasy situation with the tear, and that the person who did security previously was killed the night before by an etherbeing.
