Helhir (Of Helheim)
Helhir are the inhabitants of Helheim, a place regarded in myth as the realm of the dead. In truth, Helheim is a planet previoulsy used by the Old Aesir as a mining colony where prisoners were forced into slavery, and eventually, insanity. The Helhir are connected to a Worldsoul, but a much more volatile one. The Dark Worldsoul grants immense power, at a price. All Dark Worldsoul users have some sort of debilitating feature, often affecting their sanity. The Helhir are often regarded as an evil and cruel people, but this is not true. They are actually a very caring race, but that care rarely extends to any outside their own. Their leaders are renowned for selfless acts of service to their people, but those who stand in their way meet an unstoppable foe. Descended, from convicts and other undesirables of the Old Aesir, the Helhir learned to survive on the penal colony through being ruthless and cunning to all who stood against them. Combined with the ability to briefly command the dead, the Helhir are some of the most feared in the cosmos.
