History

During the reign of the Old Aesir, worldsoul powered energy guns were the superior weapon in most circumstances. However, as a race united in adventure and exploration, they quickly discovered not all problems can be solved with a bigger gun. Melee weapons in addition to ballistic weapons were a frequent carry of many Aesir warriors. At first glance, the Outlander's Bow would appear to be a step down from even the most basic energy pistol, but this weapon was designed for a very specific purpose which it fufills excellently. As the Aesir expanded their territory across the stars, they discovered that powering their ships, weapons, and other technology became exceedingly difficult the farther the strayed from the worldsoul due to a problem called entropy-draw. While utilizing the worldsoul energy in their own bodies, and transplating Yggdrassill saplings could theoretically solve the problem, it didn't negate the need for recon missions that took place beyond the reach of the worldsoul before a more plentiful source could be established. The Outlander's Bow was designed to overcome the entropy-draw problem, while still providing an effective energy weapon for Aesir scouts. An unintended of the advantage of this technology is that it can be powered by other worldsoul energies as well, allowing for flexible use and variations of ammo.
