Essereans

The Essereans are one of the major people groups found in the Nordhavyn Isles. Though they are scattered everywhere, the majority of them are found in the Essere Kingdom. Upon arrival during The Great Exodus, the initial ships continued scouting the land for the most ideal location needed to carry on their tradition and livelihood. As master shipwrights, the location of their primary settlement required many different attributes. When they arrived at Shipwright Bay, they found it. At the mouth of the Essere River was an ideal location for not only a city, but most importantly, drydocks. Due to the tide and geographic nature of the shoreline, nature seemed to carve out areas that were natural drydocks. Though not perfect, it saved years of engineering work. The river itself made its way through woodlands containing both fir and oak allowing for easy access to untapped needed lumber.
After the exodus, many of the original ships that made the journey were dismantled and reused as building materials for the new settlements all over the Isles so it wasn't long until the whole area recognized their need for the shipwright's vessels. Initially the Eastern Sea Traders and the Western Traders were the first to seek them out. Without their vessels, trading between the different regions was nearly impossible. As the years went by though, every city has sought out their ships.
Though not all who are Esserean are shipwrights, many still have trades that associated to ships such as rope, sails, carpentry, longboats, rafts, spyglass, etc. The most famous of all the shipwrights though bear the name of Essere and are located in the city of Duumgud. They continue a long history of shipbuilding carried over from the old world. Their ships are large and fast. They can carry goods and people alike smoothly across almost any sea condition.
