Astah has a mixture of all the races of The Obsidian Vale, being mostly populated by Goldanians, Those who live in Astah live a luxurious life.
All are welcome in Astah as long as they do not cause any trouble, and have money to spend.

Although taxes in Astah are significantly higher than in all other capitals, they are still very low compared to the amount of money the average resident makes.
Laws are enforced in Astah, however, they are not very strict, crimes are punished and trade is encouraged.
Thanks to the high amount of soldiers in Astah, crime rates are quite low, making its citizens feel safe.
Defences
Astah has towering walls with mounted ballistas stationed at its top.
The Sturdy metal gates are sure to keep any armies out, and the archers stationed at the walls will prevent any attacks.

A grand majority of the citizens in Astah are traders, relying on traveling merchants and tourists to make their money, from selling fish to exotic goods, Astah has it all.
The true moneymaker of Astah is their export of the finest fabrics in the land, woven by their very own elven slaves.

Astah has a large shipyard, accompanied by magnificent boats and ships that for the most part, look better than they perform.
A city of trade, it is filled to the brim with shops and markets, inns and taverns of the highest quality, and many opportunities to get scammed.
History
Founded by the extremely lucky pilgrims of the desert it is located in, Astah quickly showed to be extremely profitable, becoming one of the center trading points in The Obsidian Vale.
Tourism
As long as they have money to spend, those visiting Astah have no shortage of entertainment, being able to visit the many shops and markets during the day, and fulfilling all their needs in the red district at night.
The red district is perhaps the most popular attraction in Astah, sure to please traveling men and women alike.
While travelers visit Astah, the various fancy inns and taverns are the best places to rest during their stay, they are, however, very expensive.
Architecture
All buildings in Astah are constructed out of sturdy stone, The grand palace having parts of its outside be made out of pure gold.
Although on their own most buildings in Astah look very plain and boring, they are adorned by beautifully crafted and colored fabrics of varying shapes and sizes, making the capital look visually stunning.
Geography
Astah was built in a plain segment of the scorching hot desert that is The Golden Empire.
Surrounded by hills of sand and a grand lake, Astah definitely stands out, being noticeable from miles away.
Although Astah resides in an extremely hot desert, direct access to the fresh water and fish of the grand lake keeps the citizens hydrated and fed.
Natural Resources
Astah is devoid of trees and fertile soil, however, the grand lake gives the population access to fresh water and fish.
A rare species of spider known as Burning Weavers inhabit the crevasses and small holes in and surrounding Astah, these spiders provide the highest quality silk in The Obsidian Vale and are harvested in mass to create high-quality fabrics.
