Tradition Keeper
The Tradition Keepers are the highest-ranking members of The Sacred Hands, responsible for protecting the village of Miridaswi from what they believe are the dehumanizing effects of automated work.
Appointment
The role of Tradition Keeper is handed down along with the occupation. This may, but not must, be to a child or nibling. The responsibility of safeguarding Miridaswi is weighty enough that no Keeper can take on an apprentice without the full approval of the rest of the Keepers.
Duties
The five Keepers each have oversight of a particular aspect of village matters. The healer is the chronicler, maintaining a records of births, illnesses, and deaths along with other significant events. The wagonwright sees to the production and trade of materials such as lumber, stone, and metal. The schoolmaster is responsible for the education and welfare of the children. The duryo keeper--perhaps the most expansive role--is in charge of farming and animal husbandry. The weaver attends to the craftworkers.
