Artisan's Elixir

"If the Guild possess an Elixir to grant long life it is limited to the Guild since no holder of the Imperial Throne has shown signs of excessive longevity" -Orinja Keq

Summary

The largely accepted origin of this myth was an obscure publication. In 1124 BF the treatise Guild of Immortals by Oirinja Keq   Orinja, in his treatise concerning The Imperial Artisan's Guild, speculated that the amount of advancment evident in the quality of magical items created by the Guild could only be done if they had developed a method, posible a potion or elixir that lengthened their life span so that they can master their crafts and be able to fully train those who would follow. He posited it was the only way to effectively transfer, generationally, such a large knowledge base in such a consistent fashion

Historical Basis

Orinja sited experiments in which he had non guild craftsmen examine various magic items to which the alegedly declared that several were made by the same person despite vast differences in the ages of the items. Orinja sited specific skills and techniques used in such a fashion as to be as completely unique as the rings of ridges on a persons hands.

Spread

For the first hundred or so years after Orinja published his works nothing much was made of it because those who could afford a copy of the work would have to possess disposable income and a in interest in an obscure work by someone without Imperial credentials. However around 1013 BF a story of a dying man who purched a magical elixir in which to save his life began to be told in taverns in the southwest of The Empire. As such things do the tale was retold and altered over time until the belief that an Elixer of the Artisan's Guild existed and could make one immortal was firmly withing the beliefs of the average Imperial citizen by 920 BF

Variations & Mutation

Some speculated that Elixier's existed that could do a whole range of things from lengething lifespan, breathing underwater, turn into an animal or grant great strength or speed and just about everything in between

In Literature

Several mentions in various academic texts speculate on the existence of an "Artisan's Guild Elixer"
