The Onyx Tome

"Of every great grimoire that has been sought the Onyx Tome may be the reputed most powerful. The ability to summon demons from the Outer Dark could turn our world back to a far darker time of blood and barbarism."- Mikel Silverlight

Summary

Legend says there is a tome bound in dragon hide with a large jagged onyx set in the cover said to have been created by the Order of Dusk after the Demons were banished to The Outer Dark. It is said that it holds the way to summon demons from their banishment. Most believe the book actually exists. This has been aided by several Practitioners, Helvian Tor and Fin of Coria most notably, over the ages who have claimed to possess it, though it was never discovered among their possessions after their deaths.    Summoning demons is possible. The Onyx Tome is said to possess the method to do it safely and contains many True Names of Powerful Demons. The Order of Dawn, according to Legend, destroyed themselves by hunting the remnants of the Order of Dusk and others who would enter into compacts with Demons in order to find and destroy the foul book. Imperial Histories have no record of it ever being found or seen by a reputable source. This was largely believed to be a cover up and the Holder of the Imperial Throne had it in their most secure vault guarded by Legions of Shadowguards.    As time passed the stories of the Onyx Tome spread and grew. After The Fall and the burning Of Mor Daven, looters poured over the ruins looking for treasure and not a few for the rumored secret deep vault where it was kept. As centuries passed new variations of the myth came into being. The most prevalent being that the Legion of Shadowguards became some form of undead and would guard the Tome until the true heir to Imperial Throne arrived to claim it
