Izzk
Izzk has, as far as he can recall, spent his entire life at the orphanage in Falport ; he has no memories of his life before. From an early age he recognized that he possessed a certain empathic connection to other living things, manifesting as a vague knowledge or sense. Mother Maggie soon identified this trait in him from his behavior (caring for, and trying to communicate with various plants and small animals), and when Izzk was old enough she encouraged him to head to The Conservancy for further training. Izzk shunned the advice initially however. After exploring the wilds outside of Falport with Itsy and having a close call involving a pack of wolves, he changed his mind and decided to give the Conservancy a shot.
At the Conservancy Izzk was trained in the ways of the various elemental magics, and how their power was drawn from the surroundings, focused, and shaped into spells. The vast majority of the prospective students at the Conservancy were hippies, mostly High Elves with a few rebellious Tauran lacking the barest whiff of magical ability, but they were generally allowed to hang around, smoke rivendell weed, and stare at their hands giggling all day while the students with the real aptitude were given attention by the instructors. Izzk’s primary instructor, Hierophant Cornelius Mystagogue, in addition to training him in standard druidcraft, also initiated Izzk into the ways of “Wooteva”, an ancient and mysterious set of practices and beliefs centered around letting go of desires, seeing and describing things “as they really are”, and reciting vague and nonsensical koans in various situations. As a Caimen , most of this came easily to Izzk. Hierophant Mystagogue departed suddenly for Highholme for unknown reasons roughly 1 year ago, requiring Izzk to complete his training largely on his own. In addition to his standard druidic training, Izzk also ended up learning a good bit of herbology from the less academically inclined high elves hanging around the Conservancy. Izzk demonstrated an aptitude for growing and harvesting plants, as well as crafting rudimentary potions.
Izzk eventually honed his talents to the point where he could reliably communicate with animals, at least with those who were willing to talk. Through endless patience and constant bribing with food (and catnip that he grew at the Conservancy), he got a tabby cat to trust and tolerate him. He named the cat “Not Meat”. This, coupled with his appreciation for Itsy, resulted in a soft spot in his heart (as far as that was possible for a Caimen) for cats and Tabaxi. He frequently has difficulty distinguishing between the two.
