Thaliost

Thaliost is a powder-keg, primed to blow. 
A dense, urban city built in the Aundairan style of tall buildings and wide promenades, Thaliost was the original capital of Aundair. An old city that predates the Galifar empire, before the empire's founding the Kingdom of Thaliost was even the original name for the region that became Aundair. 
During the Last War, however, Thranish forces took the city. In 926YK, a campaign of aerial bombing softened Thaliost's defences enough for their knights to take the city, and spend the next 2 years annexing the surrounding region. 80 years later, the city still considers itself Aundairan to a large extent, and still runs with martial law today. 
Archbishop Dariznu, the appointed ruler of the city, operates a large garrison of Thranish knights to help keep order. Despite this, the city is still a hotbed of criminal activity, resistance movements, and dissenters, and Aundair still harbours not-so-secret plans to one day reclaim the city.
The city is also notable as one side of the White Arch Bridge, the only point that spans the Scion's Sound. Across the water, Rekkenmark is the other side, and the conflict between these two cities led to the bridge being destroyed multiple times during the war. Today, it still lies in ruins, leaving no land route between east and west Khorvaire other than the Mournlands.
