Home The inhabitants of an island just off the eastern coast of Fromata were once Nodic people, but after a catastrophic lab mishap during Vathmirian experiments with conscious and primordial spirits, their homeland was transformed into a place of eerie stillness. The entire island remains a ghostly, leveled land, with its people existing in a state that is neither fully living nor fully dead. The island’s altered environment mirrors the partially incorporeal state of its inhabitants, creating a haunting landscape.   Ethnicity These people, once a branch of the Nods, were transformed by the disastrous separation of their conscious and primordial spirits during Vathmirian experiments. Though they still resemble their Nod ancestors in some ways, they are now partially ethereal, with parts of their bodies showing glimpses of nebula-like formations where flesh once existed. These sections of their bodies display faint remnants of bones, adding to their undead appearance. They are now considered an entirely new sub-race, straddling the line between life and death.   Religion Not much is known of their beleifs. What is known is that the spiritual beliefs of these people have drastically shifted since their transformation. The separation of their spirits has led to a unique perspective on life and existence, as they are caught between the physical and the spiritual realms. While once they may have worshiped natural spirits or deities, their current state has likely led to a reverence for balance between consciousness and the primordial essence, or perhaps even a form of ancestral worship centered on regaining the unity of their spirits.   Intelligence The island inhabitants are deeply introspective, due in part to their altered state. Their partially incorporeal nature likely provides them with insights into the metaphysical, though they may also struggle with maintaining a sense of identity or cohesion. They have a profound understanding of the balance between life and death, physicality and the ethereal, which could give them unique magical capabilities. Their knowledge of the Vathmirian experiments and their aftermath also positions them as potential experts in spirit-related magics or technologies.   Appearance Though they resemble Nods, these island inhabitants have parts of their bodies that are ethereal, resembling nebulae or star formations. In the affected areas, the only remnants of their former physicality are faint images of their bones, creating an eerie, undead appearance. Their ethereal body parts seem to flicker with cosmic energy, and their movements might appear ghostly and otherworldly, adding to their haunting presence.   Tradition Their traditions are likely shaped by their altered state, focusing on rituals to restore or balance their divided spirits. Ceremonies could involve attempts to reconnect with their primordial essence or explore the ethereal realms that they now partially inhabit. They may also have developed customs around their undead nature, finding ways to honor both the physical and spiritual aspects of their existence. Their survival after the Vathmirian disaster has likely fostered a culture of resilience and deep introspection.
