Home
The Ash Elves reside on the surface of Til-Colt, where their once frozen home was transformed into an ash-filled wasteland after the eruption of Mt. Uur. Those who stayed in this harsh environment learned to adapt, creating settlements using old buildings or fungal structures. The Drow, those who fled to the Underdark, established vast labyrinthine colonies in caverns beneath the surface. The Drow harnessed the power of the unique ore, necrite, to build their empire, though their spread led to internal conflict and isolation among the clans.
Ethnicity
Descended from Snow Elves, the Ash Elves and Drow underwent drastic physical and cultural changes due to the ash storms and their respective environments. The Ash Elves have skin ranging from grey to jet black and deep crimson red eyes, a result of the Abstract, Humanity, stealing the silver from their eyes. Their white hair is a remnant of their past, now grown out as a symbol of beauty. The Drow, while sharing a common origin with the Ash Elves, have developed their own identity in the Underdark, marked by their use of necrite in both magic and technology.
Religion
The Ash Elves' relationship with their lord, Colt-Il, was forever altered when they were betrayed by the Abstract, Humanity. This betrayal reshaped their faith, leaving them more focused on survival and loyalty to each other rather than to higher powers. The Drow, having discovered necrite and its connection to necromantic magic, developed their religious practices around this new power. Their worship is often centered around the use of necromancy and the manipulation of life and death through magical means.
Intelligence
Both Ash Elves and Drow are known for their adaptive intelligence in their respective environments. The Ash Elves developed ornate suits known as Tulek wrapping, which protect them from the ash storms and retain body moisture. They also use innovative fungal growth techniques to build shelters. The Drow, on the other hand, excelled in metallurgy and magical sciences, using necrite to power their early necram magic and expand their influence throughout the Underdark. Despite their advancements, the Drow’s internal strife and clan rivalries have hindered further progress.
Appearance
The Ash Elves’ skin tones range from grey to jet black, and their eyes, once silver, have turned crimson red due to the effects of the enchanted ash and the trickery of Humanity. Their hair, though no longer brittle, remains white and is worn long as a reminder of their past beauty. They wear Tulek wrapping suits to survive the ash-filled environment. The Drow, sharing similar dark skin tones, retain their white hair but are distinguished by their use of necrite in both fashion and function, incorporating the metal into their weapons, armor, and magical devices.
Tradition
The Ash Elves value unity and strength, believing that infighting weakens their race. Their traditions are centered around loyalty to their people and survival in the ash wasteland. They train as warriors and craftsmen, constantly improving their Tulek wrapping and defensive techniques to protect against the harsh environment and mutated creatures. In contrast, the Drow’s traditions revolve around the exploitation of necrite and the pursuit of necromantic magic. Their early success in harnessing this power led to the expansion of their empire, but as their colonies grew, so did internal discord, with clan rivalries causing fragmentation and isolation.
