dwarves

Home
The Dwarves originated from the rat-like sprites of the Wyalds, who eventually found their way into the sewers of Mulath and Gormant’s forge. After gaining sentience through the craft of forging, they helped Gormant until her ascension. Now, part of their community resides within Gormant’s body, while others have spread out, forming their subcultures in various environments, including hills, mountains, and the Underdark.
Ethnicity
The Dwarves retain their rat-like visages, standing just over a foot taller than their Sprite kin, the Gnomes. Their appearances vary based on fur color, with different sub-species emerging depending on their location. The Hill, Mountain, and Underdark Dwarves each have distinct physical traits and cultures that reflect their unique environments, yet all maintain a shared connection to their origins in Gormant's forge.
Religion
The Dwarves’ religious and cultural identity is heavily tied to Gormant, their creator and patron. After her ascension, she brought some of them into her new celestial forge, where her heart became the center of their craft. Their devotion to Gormant and her vision has remained strong, with rituals and practices focused on forging and mastering craft. Dwarves who remained on the mortal plane often revere her as a divine figure of innovation and perseverance.
Intelligence
The Dwarves possess remarkable intelligence, especially in forging, engineering, and arcanotech. Their rapid advancement since their creation has allowed them to catch up with and surpass other species in technological and magical development. The Dwarves of the Forgebound Brotherhood are mainly known for their innovations in connecting realms through arcanotech, most notably their passageway from Gormant’s forge to Mulath.
Appearance
Dwarves are rat-like, with fur covering their bodies and features similar to those of their Sprite ancestors. They are taller than Gnomes, and their fur color and build vary depending on their environment. Hill Dwarves tend to be more stocky, Mountain Dwarves rugged and strong, and underdark dwarves have adapted to darker environments with pale fur and beady red eyes.
Tradition
The Dwarves' traditions revolve around the art of forging and the legacy of Gormant. Crafting is seen as both a spiritual and practical endeavor, and rituals related to creation are deeply embedded in their culture. As they have spread into different regions, distinct subcultures have emerged. The Hill Dwarves maintain a connection to the land, the Mountain Dwarves pride themselves on their strength and resilience, and the Underdark Dwarves have developed a unique underground culture, each adapting their traditions to their environments.
