Halfling

Home
Halflings, descendants of Nods, were bred specifically to work in the cramped conditions of the Vathmirian factories. Their small size made them ideal for navigating tight spaces like production lines and vents, shaping their evolution in confined industrial environments. Though Halflings can now be found throughout Fromata, they maintain a strong sense of community in urban and factory-centered regions where their skills and work ethic continue to be valued.
Ethnicity
Halflings share a close evolutionary proximity to their Imperial cousins, but their laborious history under the Vathmirian Empire’s control compressed their size and proportions. Stout and hardy, Halflings are the shortest of the human species, built for endurance in factory settings. Their practical-mindedness and adaptability in harsh environments have made them resilient, and their culinary traditions have evolved to showcase their tolerance for poisonous substances that others cannot consume.
Religion
Halflings, being practical and work-driven, typically do not have a strong focus on religious practices. However, in some regions, they follow the Holy See or local deities related to labor, craftsmanship, and sustenance. Their appreciation for food is often intertwined with communal gatherings, which might take on a spiritual significance during feasts or celebrations. For many Halflings, food serves as the closest thing to worship, reflecting their unique relationship with the land and their resistance to toxins.
Intelligence
Halflings are highly practical and focused on functionality, using their natural resistance to harsh substances and environments to their advantage. This practical mindset extends to their culinary arts, where they have developed the ability to create exquisite dishes from poisonous ingredients. In addition to their culinary expertise, Halflings are known for their resourcefulness in work environments, particularly in fields related to production, craftsmanship, and industry.
Appearance
Halflings are stout and hardy, with skin tones ranging from tan to pale with a ruddy cast. Their wavy hair is typically brown or sandy brown, and they have brown or hazel eyes. Halfling men often sport long sideburns, though beards and mustaches are rare. Their compact and muscular builds are a result of generations spent in the Vathmirian factories. Halflings favor simple, comfortable, and practical clothing in bright colors, reflecting both their practical mindset and their love for life’s simple pleasures.
Tradition
Halfling traditions are centered around practicality, work, and food. Their history in factory work has instilled a strong work ethic and a resistance to difficult environments. However, their most celebrated tradition revolves around food. Halfling feasts are renowned for their use of poisonous ingredients, transformed into culinary delights for those with the constitution to handle them. These meals are not just sustenance but an expression of Halfling culture, community, and their unique adaptability.
