Sun Elves

Home
The Sun Elves, known as The Golden, reside in Tol Harda, a land blessed with crystal hills that reflect the brilliance of their culture and spiritual heritage. These hills enhance the magical and chromatic properties of the Sun Elves' unique physiology. Outside of Tol Harda, Sun Elves establish settlements that cater to interactions with non-Sun Elves, ensuring their blinding light is masked and managed with respect to others.
Ethnicity
Sun Elves are descended directly from Fromata, the first of their kind born from the Aeldar. They have pearl white skin with a golden tint reminiscent of sunlight, and their faces glow with brilliant light, requiring them to wear masks in most settings to prevent harming others. These masks, worn outside Tol Harda, signify their lineage and social roles, while in their homeland, they are displayed as symbols of identity and pride.
Religion
The religious practices of The Golden are deeply influenced by the Aeldar doctrine but have evolved to focus on a matriarchal hierarchy. Female and nonbinary individuals are seen as the spiritual and social leaders, with legends revolving around the first female being and her role in shaping Sun Elf society. In Tol Harda, their religion celebrates the unmasked exposure of their true forms, a symbolic return to their natural state, while outside, religious rituals incorporate the wearing of masks as protection and reverence for their ancestry.
Intelligence
Sun Elves possess a deep intellectual tradition centered on chromatic language, mask-making, and the spiritual significance of their craft. They are known for their mastery of light manipulation, which is not only a magical ability but also an integral part of their communication and social structure. Education emphasizes these arts, especially the crafting of their ornate masks, which symbolize their heritage and status within their society.
Appearance
Sun Elves are humanoid in appearance, standing around 6 feet tall, with smooth pearl-like skin tinged with yellow. Their faces naturally emit a radiant light, which dims when away from the Tol Harda but can be overwhelming when residing on the Island. They wear masks to cover this brilliance, especially when interacting with other races. These masks are ornate, often depicting their occupation or social standing, and are integral to their identity both within and outside of Tol Harda.
Tradition
In Tol Harda, Sun Elves follow deeply rooted traditions that emphasize their connection to the crystal hills and the spiritual significance of being unmasked within their homeland. Masks are proudly displayed as markers of one’s identity, while outside their lands, they are worn as a sign of respect and lineage. Their society is heavily matriarchal, and their customs reinforce gender lines, with females and nonbinary individuals taking on leadership roles. Traditional mask-making is an important cultural practice, symbolizing both personal and ancestral reverence.
