The Uraks inhabit the harsh desert region of western Tol Sada, a challenging environment where survival requires resilience and resourcefulness. Their primary food source is the sandworms they have hunted and domesticated. This unforgiving desert has shaped the Uraks into a strong and resourceful people, adept at navigating the dangers of their homeland.
Ethnicity
Descended from Sun Elves exiled after the second schism of the Holy See, the Uraks adapted to the desert environment of Tol Sada. Their skin tones range from tan to brownish-green, blending with the desert landscape. They are taller and more muscular than their Sun Elven ancestors due to their high-protein diet of sandworms and their physically demanding lifestyle. Their heightened senses, fangs, and claws further distinguish them as hunters well-suited to their environment.
Religion
The Uraks practice a technoreligion centered around the belief in Vir-ul Muk, the spirit children of their deceased High Priestess, Vir-il. They believe that these spirits animate and empower their technology, leading them to conduct rituals and ceremonies during the creation and invention of new tools or machines. This fusion of religion and technology is deeply ingrained in their culture, with the Uraks viewing technological advancements as acts of spiritual significance.
Intelligence
Known for their improvised and efficient designs, the Uraks have developed technology perfectly suited for the harsh desert environment. Their inventions are practical and durable, often infused with their bodies biomechanically, allowing them to thrive where other technologies might fail. Their technoreligious beliefs push them to constantly seek out improvements to better serve the Vir-ul Muk. Uraks who venture beyond their lands often do so in search of new ideas and innovations to bring back to their community.
Appearance
Uraks have tan and brownish-green skin that helps them blend into the desert environment. They are tall and muscular, a result of their high-protein diet of sandworms and their physically demanding lifestyle. Their heightened senses make them exceptional hunters, while their tusks and enhancments aid them in capturing and domesticating their prey. These physical and engineered adaptations make them well-suited to survive in one of the harshest regions in the Isles.
Tradition
Urak traditions are deeply intertwined with their technoreligion. Each new invention or piece of technology is treated as a spiritual endeavor, with rituals held to honor the Vir-ul Muk. These ceremonies are important cultural events, reinforcing the Uraks' belief in the divine power behind their technological advancements. Despite efforts by Yuzon colonizers from Kemetopolis to assimilate the Uraks, their technoreligion has remained resilient, reflecting their strong cultural identity.
