Wood Elves

Home
The Wood Elves have made the great forest of Aboloan, located in the southern region of Fromata, their home. Over time, they became deeply connected to the forest’s flora, adapting physically and spiritually to the environment. The dense woods, towering trees, and rich, earthy terrain of Aboloan provide both shelter and sustenance, allowing the Wood Elves to thrive as they live in harmony with their surroundings.
Ethnicity
Descended from Aeldar voyagers, Wood Elves have become a distinct sub-race due to their deep acclimation to the forest environment. They have largely lost their connection to the crystalline hills from which their ancestors came. Wood Elves have developed their own systems of governance, traditions, and a unique relationship with nature, particularly through their specialized members known as Growth Holders. These individuals form the spiritual backbone of Wood Elven culture and uphold a leadership role in safeguarding their forested homes.
Religion
The Wood Elves practice a form of nature worship, centered on their connection to the life force of the forest. While they do not follow a structured pantheon like their Aeldar ancestors, they revere the natural world, with Growth Holders taking on the role of spiritual guardians. These individuals are considered sacred, as they merge their life force with the heart of nature in their home, a practice known as "green-seeing." Growth Holders play a central role in rituals and ceremonies that celebrate the cycles of nature and the preservation of the forest.
Intelligence
The Wood Elves are highly attuned to the natural world, exhibiting both physical and mental acuity in their dealings with nature. Their long arms and ability to climb trees make them natural acrobats, and their use of photosynthesis through their grass-like hair reflects a highly adaptive intelligence. Wood Elves excel in natural magic and druidic practices, and Growth Holders possess potent druidic abilities that allow them to maintain harmony with the living forces of the forest.
Appearance
Wood Elves have evolved to blend seamlessly into their forest environment. Unlike their elven cousins, they have fur. Their fur, ranging from tree bark tan to deep green, helps them camouflage among the trees, and their hair, which typcially resembles strands of grass or leaves, allows them to photosynthesize like plants. Their long limbs, particularly their arms, enable them to climb trees with ease, while their large, deep brown eyes are perfectly suited for life in the dappled light of the forest canopy. This physical evolution reflects their deep connection to the natural world.
Tradition
Wood Elf traditions are deeply tied to the forest and its cycles. Ceremonies often revolve around the seasons, with special reverence given to Growth Holders, who take on the role of protectors of the forest’s heart. Green-seeing is both a spiritual and communal tradition, where the Growth Holders bind themselves to the essence of the forest in a lifelong commitment. This practice is seen as a sacred duty, and those chosen for this role are celebrated in elaborate rituals. Wood Elves also maintain a rich oral tradition, passing down stories of their Aeldar ancestors and their journey to Fromata. During war, Woodelven warriors will cover their verdant hair with thick mud into dreadlock manes to aid in camoflage and to terrify opponents when meeting for hand to hand encounters. This hair ritual is typicall called the "rah tudt" although some clans vary.
