Introduction to the Outer Systems

Far from the protection of the mighty United Leagues of Earth, the myriad peoples of the Outer Systems still reel from the devastating Tavastian War against the death-worshipping Entropy Cults. In the twenty years since the conflict, the emergent powers of democratic Zeta Tucanae and martial Orizont have been locked in a largely bloodless feud for control of the lesser star states, tied together by the failing Gateway network and the unsteady supply of Antimatter that powers it. But now, rising tensions over control of the once-grand Cage of Luax threaten to spark open war, and political division over genetic manipulation, cybernetics, and the very nature of humanity threatens to rend the fabric of society apart.
Beyond even the edge of the lesser states of Humanity, intrepid Stellar Nomads contend with one another over precious resources, and the valiant Knights Planetar do battle with dread pirates over what remains of the Lost Systems. Further still into the depths of the void reside the mysterious Mperi, sapient aliens only recently encountered by humanity, the only such beings save for the long-dead Cetians.
