Session 4: Lessons in High Society Shopping

General Summary

Lady Vivienne Marquette returned to the Phaeros Foundation offices later in the day to give everyone a key to the office as well as bringing a welcome basket of fancy food and drink. Afterwards, Turk laid out some of the details of where the party would be going: their first stop would be in Ghalt, Aundaire. There, they would find the original workshop and apartments of Sebastian Verite, the artist who seemingly left clues on the dragonshard skull in his paintings.
Vivienne then gave the party an advance on their first week’s pay (500 crown) and told them to use it to shop and ready themselves for the expedition. She also suggested finding and recruiting a Brother Essex in Sharn, a member of the Church of the Silver Flame who might be understanding of their cause and a great source of information. Before they left, Bal asked Vivienne if she knew anything about the calling card he received. Vivienne lit the card on fire, but it wasn’t destroyed. Instead, it revealed a message that said “Ask for Crash”.
The party then went shopping in Upper Tavick’s Landing in the luxurious Terrace Way shopping area, visiting Crystals of Darion, a magical items store. There, they found that they were ill prepared for a top-tier shopping experience. They did however purchase some goods from the store:

• Dagger +1 (Rasp)
• Cane +1 (Marcella)
• Ring of Invisibility (Vax)
• Darkvision Goggles (Yelena)

The party then went to Tower Outfitters to look for gear for the expedition. While they didn’t buy anything there, Bal promised to come back some day and buy the beautiful hand crossbow (+2) that was on display. After that, the party went to Transfiguration, a joint salon and tailors, run by a couple of male dwarves named Gregor (the tailor) and Johann (the barber). There, Bal got a haircut and Vax got a “fashonista safari” outfit, opting to just purchase the shorts and vest.
Lastly the party visited an apothecary called Gardenia’s run by a half-elven woman of the same name. There, Rasp bought a sleeping draught and a set of vials that could produce two doses of poison if mixed right. On the way back to the offices, Yelena broke away to visit a House Kundarak bank.
Back at the offices, Vax decided to drill holes in each of the rooms in case he needs to make a quick exit from any of the rooms. He promised to buy Yelena a painting to cover the hole in her room. Yelena also gives Turk a note to hold onto.
The next day, the party headed to Upper Central to visit the Cathedral of the Cleansing Flame, where they should be able to find Brother Essex. Taking a turn down an alley, the party was stopped by six figures in black cloth masks. Above on a balcony, Bal noticed the shadow of someone watching.
