The unknown alien warship was quickly revealed to be something much worse than Extra-Terrestrial contact. Instead, the UNV Artaphernes (CVB-231) was a vessel of the Unified Security Group. The presence of this ship presented a major theological problem for the union that had promoted that the earth and its inhabitants had perished due to globalist capitalism and that only the union had survived after exiling themselves to save their respective ethnic identities and traditions. The Artaphernes was a direct contradiction of this canon. The USG in turn was also presented with a problem. After exhausting innumerable resources to track down the wayward human community to execute their mandate and monitor the people and ensure that stability and security were maintained wherever sentient life was present. They realised that the USR was a closed nation, unwilling to allow foreign military elements even restricted access to their territory. The classified Treaty of the Void would be the solution to these two problems. The USG would be allowed conditional operational access to the Union with the provision that all USG personnel did speak to the true nature of the earth as a thriving and surviving nation, instead referring to themselves as other survivors of the socio-ecological cataclysm that had befallen humanity.
