Deep Background Report
General Summary
The story takes place during 3 different times in the scrum rats lives. It starts with the setting on Corellia in Coronet City following the The QD. Life was always hard, but Corellia was a busy shipbuilding planet so there was work for everyone, especially at the high of the rebellion against the Empire with two massive war machines needing to turn out ships.
At the end of the war the shipyards went quiet and the orbital building platforms were dark. Things were dark on the ground too. The White Worms are an Imperial Era crime syndicate that’s now just barely scraping by in the post imperial era. Lady Proxima makes a tidy living offering “sponsorship” to orphans from Corellia and off-planet. She offers a home, food and shelter and in return those taken in are required to work off their debt. Older scrum rats take responsibility for the young new sponsees and form loose families or “crews” that work together.
One particular group of scrum rats are particularly good with technology. They scavenge tech for Lady Proxima and secretly are storing things from themselves in the Firespray Patrol Boat - The Lifeline, a derelict ship barely discernible amongst the rubble of the Santhe Shipyards.
As time goes by, they develop a language that they use to covertly discuss their hidden hoard and escape plans, but the longer they wait, the more the secret gets out.
Finally, as Adri, a young Corellian girl new to the White Worms, divulges their plan to Lady Proxima they are forced to advance their timeline and flee immediately. The Lifeline roars to life (some members didn't even know it flew) and Rem Velus takes off. Once in orbit, with Lady Proxima's forces bearing down on them, they reach for the only destination they know of, the coordinates written on the The Fragment, a mysterious piece of metal with a series of inscrutable notes and coodinates scratched into it.
