Cragbeard Clan
The Cragbeard Clan are the noble descendants of Azhar, the ancient King of Darneldur. This royal clan is the epicenter of dwarves in the Ravaged Continent, renowned as the defenders of justice and protectors of the people.
The Cragbeard clan are deeply rooted in tradition, taking pride in their mastery of craft and craftsmanship, believing that those who toil have the ability to create works of art and objects of beauty. They have a strict code of honor and their warriors are expected to live by it; they embrace the ancient dwarven-crafted metalsmiths and are renowned masters of their craft.
When a young Cragbeard approaches their 16th birthday, they go through a rite of passage, which consists of a grueling trial of courage and willpower that every member must go through to be accepted as a full member of the clan. During the ceremony, each member is given an opportunity to prove themselves and prove to the clan elders that they are worthy of their respect and recognition. Therite of their passage is a journey into the sacred mountain range of Darneldur, home of their venerable ancestor Azhar. It is here that the young Cragbeard must brave the high altitudes, fierce winds, and test their wits against the majestic creatures of the mountains. If successful, the member is presented with the Azharian star found on the clan crest that signifies their role in the clan.
The clan's motto is “Yield not in front of fear, before courage the great mountain stands.” It is a reminder to always remain strong in times of adversity, that fortune favors the brave, and that justice shall prevail. This motto is inscribed on many of the clan’s weapons and armor, serving as a reminder of their duty to the kingdom and to the people.
According to dwarven legend when the dwarves first reached the Bevepar Hills they were inhabited by Hill Giants. The giants attacked the travel weary dwarves and Azhar single handedly slew the chieftain of the Hill Giants and thus repelling their attack.
