House of Thornledge
The House of Thornledge has a long and proud history, and the seat of power was given to the city of Oakendale many years ago. The practice of buying and trading gold was an industry taken up by the wealthy family and their loyal merchants, who saw the mine as an opportunity to bring wealth and power to their noble house.
The sigil of the House of Thornledge is a lighthouse with a rose with thorny vines, a cunning symbol to remind the people of Oakendale of their duties as guardians of the city. The motto of the house is “Ever Vigilant”, to remind the citizens of their commitment to protecting and watching over the mine, city and Menspar Beacon in order to keep it safe and prosperous.
The leader of the House of Thornledge, Lord William Thornledge, is a proud and wise leader. He takes great pride in the accomplishments of the house, including its success in the trade of gold. He views this success as a testament to his leadership and the strength of the House of Thornledge. He sees trade, and the booming industry of Oakendale, as an invaluable asset to the Kingdom, and to his house alike. He believes that a strong economy is the foundation of a strong and prosperous kingdom, and that the House of Thornledge is a major contributor to that success.
Lord William's culture is one of generosity, hard work, and dedication. He encourages hard work in his own subjects, and fairness and justice to outsiders. To him, a wealthy kingdom is one that looks out for the less fortunate, and actively takes steps to support them. He also encourages diplomacy and trade amongst the other houses of the Kingdom, so as to keep peace and stability.
All in all, Lord William sees the House of Thornledge as an example of strength and leadership in the Kingdom. He looks forward to the day when the House of Thornledge will reach a new height of success, and the prestige of the city of Oakendale will spread far and wide.
