Odjerai
The city of Odjerai is a large walled city and the capital of the Djeran Sultanate. Since its founding, Odjerai has been the epicenter of philosophy, sciences, culture, and trade in the Realm. Home to many academic institutions, the city was once world renowned as the City of Learning.
This sparkling reputation was marred, however, when the newly ascended Sultan Emiritas II began a military campaign to expand the empire.
After the resolution of the war and execution of Emiritas II, the city struggles to rebuild its infrastructure and reputation.
Government
Up until the deposal of Sultan Emiritas II the city was an absolute monarchy, with previous Sultans employing a number of advisers and councilors to aide them in governing. After Ibrahim the Vengeful took control of the city, the role of the Sultan has mostly been abolished. Ibrahim serves as the prime minister of government, and has been trying to create a governmental system that prevents future rulers from falling to corruption as Emiritas II did.
History
Odjerai was founded thousands of years ago by the brothers Djer-Azim and Djer-Qatal. The siblings ruled together for an unknown amount of time before they became divided and Odjerai was plunged into civil war. At the conclusion of this conflict, Djer-Qatal was slain and Djer-Azim was mortally wounded. Before his death, Azim laid the foundations for Djeran rule of succession and named his successor.
Architecture
Alabaster columns, sandstone minarets, tiled domes and arches, and walled gardens serve as a constant reminder of Odjerai's opulent and proud history.
Natural Resources
The Djeris Mountains that sit above the city offer plentiful mined resources and quarried stone.
