Sultan Ibrahim the Vengeful

Sultan Ibrahim

"Three figures knelt side by side, hands bound behind their backs, on the sandstone balcony of the palace. They began to nervously tremble as heavy footfalls shook the ground behind them. A deep resonant voice spoke above them.

'I am not a man for words, my lords, so I will make this brief. I give you this only chance to denounce Emiritas and pledge yourself to the betterment of our people. You followed the tyrant into war, and should you decline this offer...'

A huge scaly hand gripped one of the figures by the scruff and forced his head to look at the endless dunes of the Djeran Desert. A soft whimper rose out of the kneeling figure's mouth.

'...you'll follow him in death."
Ibrahim, also called Ibrahim the Vengeful, is the ruler of the Djeran Sultanate. Previous to this role, he was leader of an armed resistance movement in Odjerai that opposed the warmongering and corruption of the now deposed leader Sultan Emiritas II. A dragonborn male of great size and strength, Ibrahim's intimidating appearance belies a profound love for his city, culture, and people.   Ibrahim earned the epithet The Vengeful in his youth when he worked as a caravan guard. The lone survivor of a brutal bandit ambush on his caravan, Ibrahim spent seven days relentlessly tracking the marauders to their hideout. Upon discovering this lair, the dragonborn was sent into a rage, and slew the entire camp. Before he collapsed from exhaustion, Ibrahim rescued a number of captives, including a thri-kreen chieftain.   Ibrahim was eventually rescued by a nearby band of thri-kreen guides who nursed him back to health.   Shortly after Emiritas II declared an expansionist campaign, Ibrahim joined an underground resistance movement. The tension between the Odjerai people and the Sultanate came to a head when a number of civilians were publicly conscripted against their will. A fight then broke out between resistance forces and soldiers of the Golden Host. This marked a beginning to the civil conflicts that would plague the city until the end of the war.   In time, Ibrahim proved himself a capable and effective leader. When the resistance finally began their siege of the Sultan's Palace it was Ibrahim who spearheaded the assault.   When the Sultan was finally captured and deposed, the people demanded that the now famous Ibrahim take Emiratas' place.
