Isle of Faintolfalas

How the vast, lushly forested rock shrouded in mists known as Faintofalas came to float in the clouds off the coast of Niflheim, no one can say for sure, but it was there before Heleg Icespear, the First of her kind, came to these watery lands in the Age of Creation.
It is said in the songs and stories that a Mist Spirit fell in love with a Wood Giant from across the river in Alfheim, and they stole away to the island whenever they were able, the Whitewood Forest that blanketed the island, their own private paradise.
There are other stories that say that the Wood Giants of Faintofalas were born from the misted trees themselves, their true form being wood rather than flesh.
Still others say that a ship of Sea Elves were sucked in by the Vortex of Gwing and spat out upon the island, where they wed themselves to the tallest and fairest of the trees. This is lent the most credence by the residents, the most elegant and dramatic of origin fables for the unique variety of Wood Giants found here.
The city of Fanyamar on Faintofalas, the only settlement on the island, is small for a city, but the buildings are made for very tall folks - Wood Giants, Cloud Giants, Mist Spirits and Water Elementals in many forms can be found here, although it is not densely populated. In the old days, one needed water magic to make the journey from the island to the mainland, but today there is a cloud stair that can by dispersed if access to the island ever needs to be closed.
